Our Campany

The Company’s owners, László Wieszt and László Lantos embraced the spiritual legacy of the former Ganz factories, and founded Hungarotrain Kft. in 1992

At the present, we have 10 permanent associates in the railway division – both engineers and technicians –, and 5 additional employees work in the electrival motor service workshop. In spite of our small size, we actively contribute to the life of the railway and vehicle industry sector. With its 100% Hungarian ownership background, the Company is primarily involved in the maintenance, repair servicing, commissioning and development of railway vehicles, and quite recently – following the demands emerging on the part of its customers – the Company’s operating profile has come to include the repair of small- and medium-powered motors, transformers, as well as the design of industrial electronics and control systems. Our technologies applied in motor repair services enable us to service motors of C+ insulation class with Dolph CC 1144 impregnation quality. Our repair works encompass a range from industrial motors of a few kW through pole-changing motors of special application in the milling industry to traction motors used in railways towing operations. The motor with the largest capacity that our Company has ever repaired featured a 550 kW output.

The members have actively participated in the design and manufacturing of the Hungarian railway vehicle park. We have also contributed to the manufacturing, commissioning and servicing of Ganz-Transelektro Rt’s trolley buses delivered to Landskrona and Rome.

Our cooperation with the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) looks back on a long history, we have had a role in the repair services of commissioned vehicles both in and beyond the guarantee periods. We have important relations and contacts with the vehicle repair service entities of MÁV, and as subcontractors we have been involved in the major overhauls and commissioning works of the above-mentioned vehicles. Under the commission of the manufacturer, our Company was acting for the guarantee repair services of the AdTranz (ABB) trainsets delivered to MÁV. Since the expiry of the guarantee period, we have been participating in maintenance works on the basis of MÁV’s order.

Apart from the domestic railway company, we are the reliable partners of a number of foreign companies that are key stakeholders in vehicle industry. As Bombardier’s subcontractor, our associates have been active in the commissioning of the RS2 metro in New Delhi, as well as the preparation of the local personnel for the operation of the metro for three years now. In Hungary, we render repair services to the components of Talent trains for Bombardier MÁV Kft. In 2010, under the commission of Stadler Bussnang AG we were appointed to commission the Flirt trains purchased by MÁV Zrt. and have them authorized by the National Transport Authority.

The key pledge of our Company’s competitiveness and future is our reliable, diligent and target-oriented work. Our firm financial background established throughout long years, as well as our team of highly prepared experts are guarantees for our appropriate performance to our customers and subcontractors alike. Our Company stands out for conventional values, because we are convinced that our commitment to the development of railway transportation has much more to yield over time than the enforcement of immediate and direct economic interests.

Our plans for the near future include the development of a modern drive control system in connection with the reconditioning works of trains operated in Hungary and the neighbouring countries, which we plan to implement in cooperation with Bombardier MÁV Kft. In association with these works, the development of other vehicle industry components is also in progress, such as battery chargers, auxiliary power supply equipment and vehicle control systems. We can flexibly align the size of our Company with the tasks ahead of us, owing to our broad-ranging contacts and relations in the vehicle industry. We have forged close relations with Hungarian universities teaching electrical engineering, and support their students to work out their theses or participate in practical training at our Company. Within the framework of cooperative training, we have been providing financial support to these educational institutions. We have been assisting young engineers in the elaboration of environmentally friendly technologies, such as the development of the components used in the solar-powered motor vehicle, the winner of the Shell Eco-marathon Urban Concept category. Since the incorporation of the Company, we have been supporting the NOHAB-GM Foundation, which aims at the preservation and further operation of the legendary name-giving locomotive after its de-commissioning.

Evidencing our commitment to quality services, our Company introduced in 2008 and since then has been maintaining the ISO 9001:2009 quality management system.

We believe that the long-term operation of our Company depends on the appreciation of partners, the continuous development of our company and the outstanding quality of the works we execute, and therefore our business policy is built upon these basic pillars.
